Are you travelling to Alberta this winter with your foodie buddies? If you are visiting Valleyview and are curious about what the city offers in terms of delicious culinary experiences, you won't be disappointed. Valleyview offers some great options for you to check out while on your foodie trip. This is a list of some of our favourite places, serving everything from quick bites to sit down dinners.

Captain Pizza

One of our favourite destinations is Captain Pizza. One visit and you'll fall in love with their classics, including the pepperoni and Hawaiian-style pizzas. Equally tasty are their vegetarian options. Perhaps you're in the mood for something different but just as delicious, such as a hearty pasta dish, a sub or sandwich, or even a donair.

Burger Baron

Are you on the hunt for the ultimate burger while in Valleyview? Explore another favourite on the list, the Burger Baron. All items on their extensive menu are superb and special treats. However, we're smitten with their Canadian Burger and their delectable Mushroom Burger. Try the Chicken Burger for a nice change of pace. Also on the menu are pizza, sandwiches, donair, good old fashioned fried chicken, chicken wings and nuggets with amazing dipping sauce options.

Horizon Steakhouse

If you're seeking a more formal dining experience, the Horizon Steakhouse is a delightful choice. The menu is extensive and diverse, offering pizza, pasta, burgers, chicken and more, but the highlight of the visit is the steak, all AAA Alberta grade, cut in-house, aged for 27 days, and seasoned and grilled to perfection. You can't leave Valleyview without trying the rib eye with garlic prawns. Pair this divine meal with the Baked French Onion Soup. This is true fine dining.

Complete your culinary adventure with a relaxed and pleasant rest at Paradise Inn & Suites Valleyview. Stay in comfortable well-appointed accommodations - we have short-term and extended stay options. All guests will find a wonderful list of perks such as a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast served daily, indoor heated pool, hot tub, waterslide, free high-speed Wi-Fi and so much more. Some people lament the passing of the summer, but every season has its charms. October might signal the return of the chillier weather, but there’s magic in that chill. It provides a different type of enjoyment to summer, sure, but we’re better for it. If you’re visiting Valleyview during October, you’ll find a host of enjoyable autumn activities and events waiting for you. Wrap up warm, and get ready for a fun few days while you’re in town.

Go for a stroll

Going out for a stroll during the autumn is vastly underrated. There’s a chill in the air, you’re wrapped up warm, and the smell is oh so delicious. You can get your fill of the outdoors by taking a trip to Young’s Point Provincial Park, which is just a short drive from Valleyview. There you’ll find a range of trail options.

Halloween fun

The end of October is all about Halloween, and in Valleyview, we have the perfect event that’ll have you scared silly (or at least having fun…). The haunted house will return to Memorial Hall on October 31st and will feature two shows. There’s an earlier one for the kids (aged 9 and under), and then a slightly spookier one for kids aged 10 and older.

Comfort eating

Autumn is all about eating well! In Valleyview, you’ll find a range of restaurants offering hearty meals that’ll help to keep the chill away. Check out Horizon Steakhouse or Western Valley Bar & Grill.

After all that autumn excitement, you’ll want to return to the best hotel in Grande Prairie to have a restful night. At Paradise Inn & Suites Valleyview, you’ll be ideally situated to enjoy all the events and activities outlined above. Our hotel also features amenities that include an onsite Tim Hortons restaurant, a fitness centre, and a heated indoor pool.

Are you a lover of the outdoors? Looking for some last-minute adventures to top off the summer? Visit Young’s Point Provincial Park for the best of hiking, cycling, and wildlife!

This is an intensive guide for great day trips to Young’s Point Provincial Park and the best it has to offer:

Hiking and Cycling:

The park has three great trails you can visit to see the best of nature. Sturgeon, Alces and the Eagle Creek/Boreal Loop are the three main trails and they vary between 2.5-7 km each; making it a great option for any level of experience. These trails are open all year round but we recommend heading there in the warmer months for mountain biking and hiking. If you plan on heading to the park in the colder months make sure to hit up the trails for a unique snowshoeing experience.

Sturgeon Lake and Beaver Pond

If you are a fan of water activities make sure that you check out Sturgeon Lake. Whether you are into water sports, wildlife or relaxing the lake has something to offer for everyone. If you want to fish you can head out sailing, canoeing or powerboating. Out on the powerboat? Why not take a try at water skiing? There’s also an observation deck at Beaver Pond if you want a great spot for bird watching. If you want to take it easy you can relax at the beach and enjoy the sun!

Planning to go on a summer adventure to enjoy the outdoors and visit the park but wondering where to stay? We have the answer for you, Paradise Inn Suites are your best option for clean and quality accommodations for the length of your stay. Paradise Inn Suites offers comfortable rooms for you and your group. You can find a room option that best fits your needs at the Paradise Inn Suites!

Check out the annual Valleyview Agricultural Fair & Rodeo this summer

Valleyview’s favourite summer event returns this summer from August 9th to 11th! The Agricultural Fair and Rodeo is a beloved tradition that brings together the local community as well as visitors for a weekend of fun for all ages.

For visitors to Valleyview and Northern Alberta, checking out the Agricultural Fair and Rodeo is a great way to get an exciting taste of life in Peace River County. Stay tuned for more details on this year’s event as August approaches, but rest assured there will be plenty to do and see! In previous years, the 3-day event has kicked off with a pancake breakfast on Main Street, plus a float parade that truly brings the community together in mutual celebration of local life. There is also a chilli supper where you can sit and chat with locals over a hearty bowl of the homemade classic stew.

You can also check out lots of rodeo events at the fair and rodeo grounds. In the past, this has included a classic exhibit hall, a cattle show, and competitive pony chuckwagon races. Kids of all ages will have plenty to do and see, with inflatable slides and bouncy castles, balloon art, arts and crafts, and more. Be sure to come with an appetite and sample all kinds of different foods from local vendors. What a great way to get to know the community while supporting local businesses and having a blast!

The best thing about staying with Paradise Inn & Suites in Valleyview is that we’re centrally located right in the middle of town - making it a breeze to explore the local area and spend as much time at the Fair and Rodeo as you like while also being within walking distance of your room if you need a rest. We also offer plenty of great amenities to make your stay with us easy and comfortable, including free parking, free breakfast, an onsite Tim Hortons open 24 hours, and much more. Stay with us this summer and check out the Agricultural Fair & Rodeo! We’re looking forward to celebrating the event with all of our guests this year.
Have some fun in the Alberta snow before winter is over
March 21st technically marks the first day of Spring, but love it or hate it, everyone knows there’s still plenty of snow in Alberta come April. We say enjoy the snow while it lasts and venture out into the fresh air this April! With Paradise Inn & Suites, there’s always something exciting to do nearby, no matter which of our affordable and friendly accommodations you choose. Here are some ideas for snow, ski, and board events near our inns this spring:

Near Grande Prairie: Servus Free Ski Friday at Nighthawk Adventure Park | April 5

On the first Friday of April, head to the Nighthawk Year-Round Adventure Park for fun in the snow that’s light on your wallet! On this night, all ski and board lift tickets are free, and equipment rentals are available for just $15 per person. For those who don’t want to ski or board, the Aquatera Tube Zone will also be open, with tickets available at the regular rate. Enjoy a night out on the slopes with family and friends before you switch back into spring and summer mode. Nighthawk Year-Round Adventure Park is just a 15 minute drive away from Paradise Inn & Suites Grande Prairie Airport, so you don’t need to make a long trip into the mountains for a day on the hills.

Near Leduc: Terrain Park Takeover at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort | April 6-7 and 13-14

If you’re near Leduc, AB, and feeling more adventurous, check out the annual post-season terrain park event at the Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. On April 6th to 7th and 13th to 14th, this local ski area’s terrain park will take over the base area. This means more terrain park for everyone, with park features going all the way down to the bunny hill. Event tickets are just $25 per day, and there will be food onsite as well as special contests and prizes. It’s worth going just to watch others do their thing! Rabbit Hill Snow Resort is just a 20 minute drive from Paradise Inn & Suites Signature in Leduc, so why not go check it out?

Come on, bust out those skis and boots one more time and make some memories in the snow to last you through the coming summer. And with Paradise Inn & Suites, you’ll always have a warm, comfortable room to get back to after your day in the cold.
